Conformal Phase Transition in Gauge Theories
The conception of the conformal phase transiton (CPT), which is relevant for the description of non-perturbative dynamics in gauge theories, is introduced and elaborated. The main features of such a phase transition are established. In particular, it is shown that in the CPT there is an abrupt change of the spectrum of light excitations at the critical point, though the phase transition is cont...
متن کاملThree Dimensional Gauge Theories and Monopoles
The coulomb branch of N = 4 supersymmetric Yang-Mills gauge theories in d = 2 + 1 is studied. A direct connection between gauge theories and monopole moduli spaces is presented. It is proposed that the hyper-Kähler metric of supersymmetric N = 4 SU(N) Yang-Mills theory is given by the charge N centered moduli space of BPS monopoles in SU(2). The theory is compared to N = 2 supersymmetric Yang-M...
متن کاملThree-Dimensional Gauge Theories and ADE Monopoles
We study three-dimensional N = 4 gauge theories with product gauge groups constructed from ADE Dynkin diagrams. One-loop corrections to the metric on the Coulomb branch are shown to coincide with the metric on the moduli space of wellseperated ADE monopoles. We propose that this correspondence is exact. Introduction There exists a correspondence between three-dimensional gauge theories and mono...
متن کاملThe high temperature phase transition in SU ( N ) gauge theories
We calculate the continuum value of the deconfining temperature in units of the string tension for SU(4), SU(6) and SU(8) gauge theories, and we recalculate its value for SU(2) and SU(3). We find that the N -dependence for 2 ≤ N ≤ 8 is well fitted by Tc/ √ σ = 0.596(4) + 0.453(30)/N, showing a rapid convergence to the large-N limit. We confirm our earlier result that the phase transition is fir...
متن کاملTowards the Deconfinement Phase Transition in Hot Gauge Theories ∗ †
The phase structure of hot gauge theories with dynamical matter fields is reexamined in the canonical ensemble with respect to triality. We discuss properties of chromoelectric and chromomagnetic sectors of the theory and show whereas electric charges carrying a unit of Z(Nc) charge are screened at high temperatures via dynamical matter loops, this is not the case for the Z(Nc) magnetic flux. A...
